Hi and welcome! I’m Dr. Jamie Holland, the heart and soul behind Move It, Baby! As a pediatric physical therapist, my specialty lies in evaluating and treating infants and young children with developmental delays. Beyond my professional title, I am a wife, a mother to three beautiful (strong-willed and determined) girls, and I also moonlight as a home chef and baker. 😉

The Beginning
My journey into pediatric physical therapy began with a deep-seated passion for working with children of all ages. After graduating with my doctorate in 2007 and spending my formative years at a teaching hospital in Florida, I felt a strong calling to the magic of New York City. And magic is exactly what I found!
While working several more years in an enriching therapeutic environment in the city, I met my now husband, got married, and started a family of my own.

A Shift In Perspective
My personal life (and professional, to be honest) took a turn when we welcomed our first daughter in 2016. She faced several medical challenges, underwent open-heart surgery at 4 months old (weighing only 8 pounds), and was eventually diagnosed with a rare genetic condition.
I immediately shifted my perspective as it relates to my practice, my connection with families, and the importance of empathy and trust in the continuum of care.

My Philosophy
My practice is about so many things. It’s about helping children accomplish seemingly impossible goals by guiding them toward their gross motor milestones. It’s about creating a fun, loving, and nurturing environment at every opportunity. It’s about giving parents and caregivers the peace of mind that their child CAN and WILL succeed, as well as equipping them with the tools necessary to purposefully play with and nurture their child’s development.
I love doing this. It is my passion. And when I see tiny smiles on tiny faces, or joy in a parent’s eyes, I know we are doing something special together!

During my daughter’s early years, I landed in an administrative role within the Early Intervention System of New York City. This new role, as a new mom, allowed me to connect deeply with families while learning the intricacies of the EI system.
After the birth of my second daughter, I felt a sense of responsibility to bridge the gap I witnessed in accessible and comprehensive pediatric physical therapy services. That, combined with a desire to return to hands-on therapy, led me to establish Move It, Baby!

My therapeutic style is child-led, relationship-focused, and hands-on, rooted in a belief in holistic care that goes beyond traditional therapy. The journey of my practice was fueled by a realization that parenting entails a range of complex emotions, and we are additionally faced with the challenges of understanding each stage of motor development to support our baby’s growth, which can often become overwhelming.
I have also witnessed firsthand the stress and worry that achieving milestones and comparisons can bring.
I created Move It, Baby! as a sanctuary for parents and caregivers seeking clarity and guidance. Through in-home assessments, ongoing care and treatment, product recommendations, a medical professional referral network, and soon-to-launch baby development classes (stay tuned!), my aim is to provide accessible and holistic support so you can worry less and enjoy more.

Have you ever wondered if your baby really NEEDS that baby jumper or walker? Has your doctor mentioned the term “torticollis” and your head tilted sideways just trying to say the word? Have you wondered what shoes are the best ones for your new walker? Are you unsure of whether it really makes a difference if your baby crawls or not? Don’t worry, I have you covered!
I can answer all of these questions and more through my services. Move It, Baby! currently offers both in-home and virtual consultations, comprehensive evaluations, and ongoing in-home treatment sessions. As every child’s needs are different, you can rest assured knowing that every therapy plan is individualized to your child’s specific goals.
I work alongside pediatricians and other interventionists to create personalized routines that are reasonable, realistic, and guaranteed for success.
All services begin with a complimentary 15-minute intake phone call to discuss your concerns and see how I can help. You can be sure that by the end of our conversation you will feel educated and empowered to take the next step in your child’s therapeutic journey.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child’s journey. I look forward to helping your little one move, play, and grow!
