Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my child needs physical therapy?
If you notice that your child has any difficulty with physical activities (sitting up on their own, rolling, crawling, walking, etc.) please consult with your pediatrician or contact a pediatric physical therapist directly.
What types of conditions do you treat?
We treat a variety of conditions primarily related to developmental motor delays. Some conditions include torticollis, delays associated with prematurity, genetic syndromes, and cerebral palsy. However, it is important to note that conditions themselves are not treated with physical therapy, only the resulting impairments and delays. Dr. Jamie Holland has also completed the TOTs Training program and works with related professionals in the identification and treatment of tethered oral tissues (tongue, lip, and cheek ties) as they relate to developmental dysfunction.
Do I need a referral to schedule an appointment?
Direct access for physical therapy allows patients to seek services without the requirement of a physician’s referral or prescription. That said, some insurances will have different requirements if you are seeking reimbursement.
Do you take insurance?
Dr. Jamie Holland is an out-of-network provider. Superbills are provided at each billing cycle for clients to self-submit for reimbursement if they choose. Most clients are successful in receiving at least partial re-payment for services.
How long is each therapy session?
Therapy sessions are 45 minutes. This provides sufficient time for both hands-on treatment and parent education. Longer sessions may be recommended at the time of evaluation based on the individual’s presentation of needs.
How should I prepare for our consultation?
Assessments are best conducted in a quiet space that is comfortable for your child. This space should be familiar so the child is as relaxed as possible. Familiar toys should be available for engagement and comfort. Babies should be dressed only in a diaper during the initial consultation. Older children can wear comfortable clothing that doesn’t restrict movement.
How often will my child need to attend physical therapy sessions?
The frequency and duration of therapy sessions depends on your child’s specific needs and treatment goals. Your therapist will create a personalized plan after the initial evaluation.
Are telehealth sessions available?
Yes, we offer telehealth sessions for certain conditions and circumstances. Please contact our office to see if telehealth is an option for your child.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please always cancel a session, regardless of short notice, if your child is not feeling well. Even a minor illness can impact their mood and engagement, which will not result in a productive session and may put other children at risk. For all other cancellations, we kindly request at least 48 hours’ notice. Make-up sessions may be scheduled at the providers discretion and subject to availability. Cancellations made for non-illness reasons with less than 48 hours’ notice are subject to a $75 cancellation fee. No-shows will be billed at the full session rate.
What safety measures are in place for in-person visits?
We follow strict sanitation and safety protocols, including regular cleaning of any toys/equipment brought into the home, mask-wearing as needed, and thorough handwashing to ensure the health and safety of our patients and staff.
